Protecting Our Children: The Urgency for Castle Rock Town Council to Prohibit Adult Live Performances in front of Children.

In the charming community of Castle Rock, where the well-being and development of our children are paramount, there exists an urgent need to establish official town ordinances that prohibit the exhibition of adult live entertainment in front of our innocent youth. As responsible leaders, it is our duty to shield our children from inappropriate and harmful content that can have lasting negative effects on their growth and well-being. By taking a decisive stand against such exhibitions, we can create a safer and more nurturing environment for our youngest residents.

The Importance of Protecting Childhood Innocence:

Childhood is a time of innocence and vulnerability, a crucial stage where young minds are shaped and molded. We owe it to our children to ensure that their exposure to the world is one that promotes positivity, integrity, and healthy development. Allowing adult entertainment to be exhibited in public spaces puts our children at risk of being subjected to explicit and graphic content that can distort their understanding of relationships, sexuality, and acceptable behavior.

Defining Adult Live Performances:

To provide clarity, “adult live performances” should be defined as any show, exhibition, or other presentation that is performed in front of a live audience and, in whole or in part, depicts or simulates nudity, sexual conduct, sexual excitement, specific sexual activities, lewd conduct, or the lewd exposure of prosthetic or imitation genitals or breasts. Providing a solid definition of “adult live performances” is absolutely critical to the protection of our children. It is through this precise and comprehensive definition that we can clearly identify and classify content that is inappropriate for their impressionable eyes and minds. By explicitly outlining what constitutes adult live performances, we establish a strong framework that enables us to effectively regulate and prohibit such exhibitions in front of our youth such as what occurred at the Castle Rock Pride Fest on August 27, 2022. This definition serves as a powerful tool in safeguarding their innocence, ensuring their exposure to age-appropriate content, and creating an environment that nurtures their healthy development. With determination, we must work tirelessly to define and enforce these boundaries, leaving no room for ambiguity or potential harm to our precious children.

The Consequences of Early Exposure:

Extensive research has shown that early exposure to sexually explicit material can lead to a host of negative consequences for children. Distorted perceptions of sexuality, increased aggression, decreased empathy, and the development of unhealthy attitudes towards women are just some of the risks associated with such exposure. As responsible guardians of our community’s future, we must take a firm stand against this detrimental influence on our children.

The Power of Official Town Ordinances:

Establishing official town ordinances to prohibit the exhibition of adult entertainment in front of children is not an infringement on personal freedom; rather, it is an affirmation of our commitment to protect our youth. By enacting these ordinances, we send a powerful message to our children that their well-being is paramount and that we will not tolerate the degradation of their innocence. We also provide reassurance to parents that we are dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment for their children to grow and thrive.

The Douglas County Fairgrounds and the Town of Castle Rock:

It is important to note that while Douglas County owns the Fairgrounds, it falls within the boundaries of the Town of Castle Rock, which has annexed the area. This highlights the town’s authority and ability to pass ordinances that align with its values and safeguard the well-being of its residents, including children. If the Town of Castle Rock can amend its municipal code pertaining to various aspects, such as camping and waste management, it can certainly take similar action regarding adult live performances.

Take Action Now:

I implore each and every member of the Castle Rock Town Council to recognize the urgency and importance of this matter and take decisive action. Let us demonstrate our dedication to the protection of our children’s innocence and the promotion of their healthy development. By establishing official town ordinances to prohibit adult entertainment in front of children, we will reaffirm our commitment to creating a safe and nurturing environment for the youngest members of our community.

The time to act is now. The future of our children depends on the decisions we make today. By forging a path towards a safer, more respectful, and more wholesome Castle Rock, we will send a powerful message that the well-being of our youth is our top priority. Let us join forces as leaders, guardians, and advocates for our children’s future, and together, create a community that safeguards their innocence and fosters their growth.
