Treasurer Dave Young admits Coloradans wouldn’t have received $750 TABOR check if he had his way

By Matt Connelly

Colorado State Treasurer Dave Young said the quiet part out loud at a recent debate where he admitted that Coloradans would not have received their $750 TABOR refund if it were up to him.

At a recent Club 20 debate, GOP Treasurer Challenger and former Top Gun Instructor Lang Sias pressed Young on his previous support for abolishing TABOR.

The former attorney deposed Young to admit he championed a ballot measure in 2018 – Proposition CC – that would have prevented the same TABOR refunds that Young paraded around as the “Colorado Cashback” from ever going out to Coloradans.

Not surprisingly, voters crushed that ballot measure.

In 2022 while running for reelection, Young now campaigns around the state as though he is a supporter of TABOR.

But according to Dave Young himself, Coloradans would have $750 less of their own money in their pockets right now if it were up to him.
