Scam Watch: Red Light Camera Goes Live In Colorado Springs

By Matt Connelly

Campfire Colorado is a conservative voice for the PEOPLE – and if there’s one scam that we 100% oppose, it’s the further installation of red-light cameras across Colorado.

Technology is an important tool in the fight against crime and against terrorism but increasing the size of Colorado’s surveillance state with red-light cameras to further drain taxpayers’ wallets is totally unacceptable.

According to the Gazette, a red light camera will go live at the intersection of Fillmore Street and Union Boulevard today.

Violaters will have a 30 day grace period where they will receive a warning, but no fine. On September 5th, violators will be issued a $75 fine.

That’s a total scam.

We’ll gladly highlight any efforts – from conservatives or liberals – to push back against Colorado’s surveillance state in cases where it negatively impacts Coloradans’ privacy, our constitutional rights, or unfairly targets our wallets with problematic technology.
