One Year Ago: Police Officer Killed by Radical, Radical Killed by Good Samaritan, Good Samaritan Killed by Police

By Matt Connelly

Today is the one-year anniversary of the tragic shooting in downtown Arvada that resulted in the death of a police officer and a good Samaritan with a gun who killed the shooter but was then himself killed by police.

The original shooter targeted and ambushed police office Gordon Beesley after apparently being radicalized by anti-police rhetoric and violence.

That evil man was killed by good Samaritan John Hurley who was a law-abiding citizen on the scene and happened to be carrying a gun. In a tragic turn of events, Hurley himself was then killed by another police officer who mistakenly thought Hurley was the shooter.
