Metro State Professor Identifies Liberal Policies As Reason For Increase In Colorado Murders

By Matt Connelly

It doesn’t happen often, but every now and then a moment of truth breaks through the liberal activist clutter on 9News.

Apparently, no one briefed Metro State professor Stacey Hervey on Kyle Clark’s liberal talking points prior to an interview on 9News last night about the factors contributing the increase in murders in Denver.

First, Professor Hervey simply acknowledging that there’s a violent crime problem in Denver directly contradicts 9News’ liberal cheerleader, Kyle Clark, who has made a practice of mocking Coloradans who are concerned about violent crime.

Second, Hervey zeroes in on the prevalence of fentanyl and opioids saturating Denver as one major factor fueling the increase in murders – a problem that law enforcement widely acknowledges was made worse when Governor Jared Polis and radical Democrats decriminalized fentanyl and other drugs in 2019.

Third, Hervey directly says the defund the police movement has contributed to the increase in murders:

“We really asked police officers to not be as involved, defund the police, ask them to come up with different ways. And that’s all good, but the reality is crime is still going to occur and there are people out there who are going to take advantage of other people,” Hervey said.

Professor Hervey should be commended for having the courage to directly identify these problems publicly on Colorado’s leading liberal news channel.
