Local paper questions “intestinal fortitude” of Jared Polis and Jena Griswold for skipping Western Slope debate

By Matt Connelly

The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel is going after Colorado Democrats who are skipping the Club 20 debate this upcoming weekend and they aren’t holding back.

In an editorial published this morning, the Daily Sentinel specifically criticized Governor Jared Polis and Secretary of State Jena Griswold for skipping the Club 20 debate this upcoming weekend. Senator Michael Bennet is also skipping the debate but avoided criticism from the Daily Sentinel for some unknown reason.

“It can often feel like we live in a forgotten part of the state and having candidates skip Club 20 does not do anything to alleviate that feeling,” the Daily Sentinel says in the editorial.

The editorial continues, “Many will question the intestinal fortitude of the candidates who are not showing up and we think they have a point.”
