Lauren Boebert Demands Fentanyl be Classified as a WMD

By Andrew Dupere

On Monday, Colorado conservative Rep. Lauren Boebert introduced legislation to declare Fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction. In an interview with Fox News, she explained that this bill would provide the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, the DEA and other government agencies with the “necessary administrative directive to eliminate the threat posed by this deadly substance”.

Congresswoman Boebert has been calling for more action on this issue as early as January of this year, citing Fentanyl as the “leading cause of death for adults aged 18-45”

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine according to the DEA and the NIH. It is primarily manufactured in China and then smuggled into the United States by the Drug Cartels in South and Central America. Because of its potency and cheap production costs, fentanyl is often mixed with cocaine, heroin, ecstasy and other illegal drugs to increase profit margins for the Cartels.

Fentanyl and other similar drugs are so deadly that the CDC reports over 150 deaths every day from synthetic opioids.

One can’t help but accompany these alarming stats with the Biden administration’s negligence at the southern border, where illegal crossings are approaching 1 million in the first half of 2022 alone.
