In addition to the skyrocketing cost of living in Colorado, rampant crime increases under his tenure, and recently being booed at the Avalanche Stanley Cup parade, Jared Polis faces another threat to his 2022 re-election campaign: speculation that he is already planning to abandon his post as Governor of Colorado and run for president in 2024.
Voters generally don’t like when a candidate running for office is already plotting his exit from that office while asking for voters to re-elect them at the same time.
How will Team Polis handle this predicament? We learned in a story from liberal CNN yesterday that they will simply lie.
In a story on potential challengers to President Biden in 2024, Polis is mentioned as a possible presidential candidate.
Anyone in Colorado who has been paying attention knows that Jared Polis already began running for President years ago at the expense of Coloradans.
In the story, Polis spokesperson Amber Miller says about Polis that he’s, “not considering anything like that and is focused on running the state of Colorado. If he is re-elected, he plans to serve his entire term as governor of Colorado.”
It’s a lose-lose situation for Team Polis to be answering these questions and there’s no good answer for his team. Either admit that he’s been planning his presidential run for years and alienate Colorado voters weighing whether to vote for him in November, or lie now and break the promise not to run should he somehow be re-elected in the fall.
Here at Campfire Colorado, we’re confident Heidi Ganahl will defeat Polis in November and end his political career altogether, but don’t believe for a second that Polis won’t be visiting Iowa in early 2023 no matter the result of the 2022 election here in Colorado.
