Aurora City Councilmember Dustin Zvonek leads the charge to ban Chinese spy app TikTok from city devices, calls on Polis and state to do the same

By Matt Connelly

Aurora City Councilmember Dustin Zvonek is leading the charge to ban the Chinese spy app TikTok from Aurora city devices.

Last night, Zvonek introduced a resolution to ban the Chinese spy app from city devices and received a unanimous and bipartisan 10-0 vote in favor of the resolution.

Zvonek also called on Governor Jared Polis to ban the Chinese spy app from state devices – a call that has not yet been heeded by the Governor who has refused to answer questions on the state’s use of the app and his own personal use.

As noted in Zvonek’s tweet, a new Wall Street Journal story out today shows that TikTok trackers have been embedded in state government websites across the country, although it’s not immediately clear if Colorado is one of the state’s listed in the report.
