In an exclusive interview yesterday with Campfire Colorado, National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Rick Scott was confident in the Republican Party’s chances of defeating incumbent Senator Michael Bennet in the 2022 general election.
“I think we have a good chance,” said Florida Senator Rick Scott. “Here’s how I think it starts. One – do we have good candidates? We do. We have a lot of good people running. Number two – Bennet is clearly not in great shape. Number three – nationally, Biden’s numbers are bad and generally they don’t get better during a midterm year of a newly elected president. If you look at polls in Colorado, we have every reason to believe that we can win.”
Senator Scott and his team at the NRSC have reason to be optimistic according to a recent Cygnal Poll showing Bennet losing to a generic Republican in Colorado. In fact, Senator Bennet’s own consultant has compared 2022 to the wave election years of 2010 and 2014 – a comparison that does not bode well for Senator Bennet’s political future.
