Denver City Councilwoman Candi CdeBaca called for the abolition of private property in a Tweet on Friday, March 18, 2022.
CdeBaca, who represents Denver’s 9th district, is Denver’s first Democratic Socialist to serve on the Council.
CdeBaca has long been a controversial figure on the Council; in 2020, she created controversy by praising a tweet that called for Trump supporters to be infected with coronavirus at MAGA rallies.
Twitter did not hold back on CdeBaca with users replying with comments like “’Our’ car needs new tires. Please send a check @candicdebacad9”.
Denver columnist and independent commentator Eric Sondermann tweeted: “And your examples of societies that have worked – even thrived – without private ownership of virtually anything would include……? Please do tell.”
